MANGALOREAN POMFRET CURRY Recipe | Main Course Recipe by Mel |
| INGREDIENTS | 1 medium pomfret sliced,
2 teaspoons madras red chilly powder,
2 teaspoons kashmiri chill powder,
2 teaspoons coriander (dhaniya) powder,
Half cup coconut milk,
2 small onions,
4 peppercorns,
Small ball of soaked tamarind,
Salt to taste | METHOD | Wash the fish thoroughly and rinse with a mixture of a little salt and vinegar. Keep aside.
For the masala:
Grind 1 small onion, chilly powder, coriander powder, peppercorns, soaked tamarind to a fine paste.
Curry:
Heat oil. Fry 1 small (sliced) onion till transparent. Add the masala and fry for a few minutes on low flame. Add coconut milk and mix well. Next add masala water. (Masala water is simply rinsing out the mixer jar and adding that water to the pan.) Mix well. Add salt and let the curry start to boil. Once it starts boiling, lower the flame, add the fish pieces and cook covered for 7 - 8 minutes or till the fish is cooked.
Serve hot with rice. |
