BANANA FLOWER CURRY(ARITI POOVU KOORA, IN TELUGU LANGUAGE) Recipe | Main Course Recipe by Ramalaxmi Tatavarti |
| INGREDIENTS | 1 small banana flower
4-5 green chillis
2-3 red chillis
1tsp chana dal
1tsp urad dal
2tsp of mustard seeds
4-5 curry leaves
a pinch of asofetida
a pinch of turmeric
1tsp of tamarind juice
3tbs of cooking oil
salt to taste | METHOD | Take off the top layer of the flower and finely chop the whole flower. In a curved pot put the chopped flower, turmeric, salt, tamarind juice and chopped green chillis. Cook well.
Aferwards, in a seperate skillet put the cooking oil and fry the seasonings. Keep 1tsp of mustard seeds away when frying the seasonings. Empty all the fried seasonings into the cooked pot of flower and let the flavors come together.
Grind the leftover mustard seeds to a smooth paste and mix well in the curry. Take off the stove after a minute.
Goes very well with white rice,indian butter(ghee) and south indian fryums.
Cabbage and raw babana can be made in a similar way.
